The construction of the Hong Kong to Maucau bridge, one of the longest sea bridges in the world, required vast construction across the open ocean. Due to this, there was a need to ensure that products used during the build project were bio-degradable and wouldn’t cause harm to the environment.
Rope-Tek™ WRD 40 was used throughout the bridges’ 55 km construction. The wire rope grease provided effective lubrication and corrosion protection to the steel ropes operating on floating cranes, thus enabling far greater rope longevity whilst also protecting the marine environment.
Known for its excellent resistance to moisture and oxidation, Rope-Tek™ WRD 40 provided excellent protection against corrosion induced failure. In addition, the grease employed high-load carrying solids to minimise friction and wear between wires and strands.
With excellent water resistant property, Rope-Tek™ WRD 40 was able to deliver its characteristically high-performance, and biodegradability to the project, making in an ideal solution for use on the open ocean bridge.
